Welcome to my Pattern Design Guides. In the 40+ years I have been working with custom patterns and teaching people how they could create their own, I have never ceased to marvel at how no two bodies are the same. I have a passion for patterns and I love to share the infinite variations of shapes and designs that can be achieved. But I have refused to create a line of patterns for a generic body. The concept of my new Pattern Design Guides is to show people how to create custom-fit patterns based either on special measurements for a given design or on variations that can be created by altering slopers made for an individual such as those described in my book How to Make Sewing Patterns. |
My latest Pattern Design Guide is How to Make Bikinis and Bandeaux. This is a system of creating patterns that starts by determining the design lines directly on the body using velcro and bias tape. Measurements are then taken and a pattern is drafted. It can be used to create everything from swimsuits to wedding dresses including underwear, tops, dress, and gowns. It includes instructions for making fitted bottoms that can be used either for swimsuits or panties.
